This journey started because my buddy Ollie wanted an experiment, I think. We decided to do Revolve 24-hour cycle challenge as a 4-man team I didn't even own a bicycle..
My story with Cancer began several years ago, it was always something you heard about, something that happened to elderly or sick people I was to learn something about myself and fast. My 1st experience was with testicular cancer. I was in so much pain that I had to visit the doctor.
My Food: Your questions to me answered. The way I started to cook. As the numbers in my social media grow, I get a lot of messages about what I eat, More importantly what I did eat at the start of my journey which is probably more help than what I eat now, as I tend to stuff my little fat face before I do any challenge.
Part 2 of 2018 My little Journey, after an awesome time doing Birthday treats with great people in Miami, Florida. Eating drinking and riding I guess this is me being merry, It was time to move to San Diego area, flights seemed to take the day, up early I got a lift to the Airport from Terry and Ellen, done the TSA bag drop...
2018 And the up’s and down’s of being me. (8 stone lost ,that’s over 50kg) part 1 of 2, instead of doing my Bi-monthly blog I had to wait as wasn’t allowed to blow about certain subjects that I really wanted to, Blast those Non Disclosers eh! It’s been a bit of a flyer I guess a real Doozy some might say…
What a year last year was, I didn’t know what would happen when I posted a story about losing weight and riding a bicycle around Brands Hatch, well the positive feedback I got was overwhelming, friends, family all telling me it was written with utter joy from the heart.
6AM and oh boy I was ready to roll out yet again, okay the lack of vision was harsh the bike lights made the mist bounce back into your face, my first lap was rather slower than I hoped for, after that though it improved a lot, quicker times as the confidence grew it was still cold, misty and darker than last year, but I felt much better, the knee was giving me the odd wiggle so I knew I had to get it looked at...
Revolve 24 Hour Challenge is my main goal for the next few years, as I hope to ride 250 miles solo in one day, and the weekend racing around with my team is a great start for anyone wanting to start a change for themselves, It’s the event that got me into cycling and really pushes me on to be a better person all round I think.
After Majorca I was pretty happy with my little world, I’d done a few interviews for newspapers and Radio along with a few video’s, I had decided to do many more miles than in 2016. Ok, that was my 1st year of cycling but I was stronger, and the weight hadn’t increased.
2018 & 2019 Sponsorship Opportunities
As I have now left the company that sponsored my kit and events, I will be doing press interviews and Planned tours to the USA, Switzerland Hopefully China, and Events in Europe and the UK. I will be happy to put your logo on outfits I would wear at events.
I started my training on the bike in 2017 in March, I’ll be very upfront and honest here, I really don’t like cycling in the cold or the rain, I know this is reversed in a 24 hour race because you can’t do anything about that, But on my own I can, and I prefer to cycle in the dry I spent good money on kit and a Bike which I felt I couldn’t afford to drop on a icy or wet road.
Hello again, I’ve been rather busy concentrating on myself of late rather than writing blogs, there is a song that springs to mind. And starts Hello darkness my old friend… I guess it’s easy to change at first but becomes difficult to carry this over, so I needed something to inspire me again.
Small changes rather than massive upset to your system.
I have managed to change a lot in my life over the past year, I don't think this could have happened if I had just gone on a diet, having now tried a few I can be happy in myself to call them out and say they are based on getting money, lots of money out of each person that is willing to think they need a diet or special pants, even a machine to wrap around yourself while you eat pizza sat watching TV, none of these are long term, just look at the Z-list celebs that go back to being themselves within weeks of all that personal effort.
Who could have thought that someone telling you that your able to ride up steep hills while you lay on a sofa could work, yet more and more sports stars of today use these guys, So I thought I’d try it too, Hill's and I have had a hate, hate relationship from day one, along with building speed ok it's getting better buy, I look at the guys I race with and oh boy I need extra work unless of course they want me to give up beer too, pah to that one so off I went to see a brilliant lady that deals with the elite stars of track and Triathletes to see what she could do with myself. The Sceptic.
We set up base camp early being first on site, very keen, very nervous, I went around meeting with many other teams, giving away free thermal mugs and water bottles really helped with this, or it might have been my utter fat lad bare faced cheek, meeting other that didn't have much clue was making me a jolly happy chap, meeting the guys that do the big races was amazing, great tips or so I thought lol.
Wow where do I start: this is a short version of my personal story to tackle the Revolve 24 Challenge on a Bicycle around Brands Hatch.
In January at an exciting conference I had the pleasure to meet and talk to Simon Harmer (@shorterSi on Twitter) his aim is to inspire and be inspired, I became inspired.
