Some of my 2017 Rides

After Majorca I was pretty happy with my little world, I’d done a few interviews for newspapers and Radio along with a few video’s, I had decided to do many more miles than in 2016. Ok, that was my 1st year of cycling but I was stronger, and the weight hadn’t increased.

I had planned a few nice trips on the bike and was planning 2 big ones: the Red Bull 25 hour challenge, along with my main event of the year, Revolve 24 hour Race around Brands Hatch.

I got talking to a few people about Diet’s, and the fact they bounced up & down so much whilst on them, and asked me for advice, I told them it is far easier to change than to Diet: they didn’t really get what I meant, until I said I was willing to gain weight, and prove that I could get back down to the same weight without using some Fad diet, I was jolly happy with myself hahaha! I went up to 13.5 Stone easily: I was riding quite a bit and eating shed loads getting lots of different exercise. I started walking again which is why I started the Dave’s Changed group on FB and changed my Twitter to add my stories of positive thoughts. I got some personal sponsorship and carried on happily riding my little red bike.

What I forgot about was my blog! I just didn’t write for months: I wanted to change jobs and move forward with a better work – life balance.

What I forgot about was my blog! I just didn’t write for months: I wanted to change jobs and move forward with a better work – life balance. I’ll be updating a lot more this year, as I have booked walks every other week free for anyone who wants to come along. I live in Berkshire and go walking in Windsor Great Park. Most weekends I go on bike rides if you wanted to join us, we do London-Windsor-London. Great Park, basically I’ll go anywhere if I can ride!

On with my training rides, sorry I do go on once started. I felt stronger after Majorca, at the end of May. When I went back to work, we were pretty busy, so getting in rides during the week meant I would have to take my bike with me when possible,

1st up was Derby Dales: only 17 miles but very hilly. I had good average speed for the amount of climbing I’d done, it felt great getting out mid-week. Back home 2 days later I fitted in another evening ride, I managed to go faster around a 20-mile circuit than I had done before, leaving me positive about the Spanish trip gaining strength.

The weekend of 17 June, was even better: 34 miles on a ride around Ascot, Windsor & Maidenhead, getting 27 personal records on my Strava (it’s the app I use to record my rides). If you want to feel good about exercise, I recommend recording your activities, as this will show you your progress or whether you’re staying static which you can work on by joining online forums or seeking help from professionals in the field you want to grow.

Daves Changed - 2017 Rides

These were followed up by some intensive rides, in Knutsford, Manchester& Cheshire, I was building speed looking for more hill’s, getting farther with my distance while riding on my own which was very important to myself, best single ride of nearly 50 miles at 18mph gaining good solo experience.

I spent a few days in Cornwall and managed to take my bike with me, and found a ride with just 2 streets but an amazing 1000 foot of climbing. It was intense, overtaking cars going down these hill’s, yet feeling like crying going up them, the pain was flippin’ awesome, 2 days of doing this was bliss, again they were late evening rides after 13 hour days at work. When I got home that weekend I had another ride to Windsor, another 10 personal records smashed J .

Hope you liked a few of the selected rides, you can check these out on my site, or via Strava and of course the Facebook group

Towards the end of July, I done a few London-Windsor-London rides wit ha Group of Cyclists called the Outcasts please feel free to join if you fancy taking up cycling, lots of guys based all over the UK and USA that are happy for novice riders to join them and they have a rule that no one gets left behind unlike a few other clubs, Same with Park run join one and Walk-Run-Walk around the circuit. This will help you gain confidence with yourself with other people and have your own body confidence back. Your able to check out my rides if you like on the website www.daveschanged.co.uk/speak-to-dave.html During August I took a few days off work I wanted to focus on Revolve which was happening in September, I decided to go to Box Hill in Surrey, this is a notorious hill that was part of the Olympic road course during London 2012, I was happy to keep going up & down this beautiful hill, many go there to do this It’s a wonderful feeling joining others with a passion, This was a mid-week challenge to myself, The Weekend My Outcasts group we’re also going to Box Hill again, as they also had a team doing Revolve 24 hour race. During Aug I had managed lots of smaller rides all feeling good and my speed was slightly up too, just 2 weeks until Revolve now, leaving room for one more trip to Box Hill, along with a ride into London from Berkshire.

Hope you liked a few of the selected rides, you can check these out on my site, or via Strava and of course the Facebook group: www.facebook.com/daveschanged I try to post everything and if you want to join us on any rides or some of our walks please feel free to drop me a message and come along, Dorset, Berkshire, Surrey and London are every other week.

My Journey. Beating Cancer & 20stone to a 3100 mile non stop race [Part 1]

My story with Cancer began several years ago, it was always something you heard about, something that happened to elderly or sick people I was to learn something about myself and fast. My 1st experience was with testicular cancer. I was in so much pain that I had to visit the doctor.

My Food

My Food: Your questions to me answered. The way I started to cook. As the numbers in my social media grow, I get a lot of messages about what I eat, More importantly what I did eat at the start of my journey which is probably more help than what I eat now, as I tend to stuff my little fat face before I do any challenge.
