January 2018, The start of your change

What a year last year was, I didn’t know what would happen when I posted a story about losing weight and riding a bicycle around Brands Hatch, well the positive feedback I got was overwhelming, friends, family all telling me it was written with utter joy from the heart.

The test was what would a real journalist say and or a PR company, I was asked to forward it to a couple, the one that didn’t print the story later came back to me and asked for me to write about something else, with little time on my hands due to work, writing would be mainly for blogs to help others and my focus was not fixed on writing at all, it was about training harder to achieve my goals,

However I had to make time to write as I wanted to share, Jo from Jellyrock PR gave me good advice and I soon got into the groove A newspaper wanted to follow up my 1st story about Revolve, so I done a coupe of interviews and a photo shoot, I later done radio interviews and had fun, so I got to like the style of writing I was doing, easy, happy, trying to put across what I had become passionate about, This year I plan to do a monthly update, on my life, my training and others that have joined in the fun, so I hope you enjoy reading as much as I do writing about this journey.

our best bet is to change, not everything at once, little by little works

Christmas season is a rather jolly affair with my family and friends, we all meet up lots and go out for meals and of course drinks, this does have an effect on my waistline, I was not worried however as I knew I wanted to get on the bike and not leave it months this time around, I had put weight on as a bit of a bet which I’ll write about on a separate blog, in between Christmas and the new year I did get out, it was cold so I know I had to buy winter training kit, the shopping trip was fun hitting the south coast outlet shops and blow a few quid, new years eve did involve a few cheeky drinks, as I don’t diet I can still have a few drinks I just eat better than before and exercise, I would tell anyone wanting to lose weight not to diet, not to follow some plan to close, but to decide what you wish to change whether it’s weight or fitness or both hopefully both, your best bet is to change, not everything at once, little by little works, I change one thing each month until I found what worked for me, 2018 I had a plan, I was going to walk with my Facebook group around Windsor Great Park and cycle 100 miles, it’s the 29th as I write this and I’ve had 2 group walks, and completed the cycling I wanted to, I Have left my job and now seek new employment which was strange after around 9 years, it was something I felt I needed to get a better work life balance we all dream of, money has to be earned so I quickly got to work on sorting out a new job, hopefully something I don’t have to do for many years to come,

I change one thing each month until I found what worked for me, 2018 I had a plan

From my Facebook group I got asked to go walking with some ladies in Surrey and Berkshire and Dorset, so every other weekend I go to one of these places have a walk and on the other day I will ride my bike, my last walk this weekend had 11 come along which was wonderful. My first ride of the year was flipping cold I managed a reasonable 25k followed by the same the next day, then a group ride saw me doing 30k, pace was ok on roads I hadn’t used before, we went walking the following weekend because it was wet, I had a day off mid-week so I managed to go over towards Windsor the long way doing 45k with steady pace until the last 8k, I don’t know why I burn out quickly I think it’s to do with energy levels, so I’ll work on this before I ride again,

January 2018, The start of your change

The internet will be working overtime for me to gain the knowledge, or I will ask a few Pro’s, I was getting a few messages from people wanting me to update my blog and offer advice on group walks, so these have been good for just coming along and talking, you would meet others doing what you thought you couldn’t, so I almost act as a pivot point for like minded people to meet, to talk and walk and swap ideas about their own personal lifestyle, my world hasn’t change much just my lifestyle, I now live a much richer life, I do drink less because I’m a lightweight drinker these days, This month I done a photo shoot and story for the Sun on Sunday newspaper, I have started my group walks I have met some wonderful people I hope to speak more about over the coming months, and I have loved every day of 2018 so far, still smiling, even though Sundays London Windsor London ride was awful, I totally bonked and didn’t finish well, I live to fight on, and I’ll not be giving up this journey. I’m passionate about helping others, so even on a bad day I will seek the positives and write about each weekend I do an event and continue to post monthly, If you would like to involve me in one of your events this year please contact me, I’m looking for new sponsors for this year, and want to progress, let’s all have a great 2018 ahead,

Events for walks are on FB www.facebook.com/daveschanged cycle rides are posted on site and weekly to FB group too. Don’t diet just change this is your year x

Special thanks in January go to; Annie, Jackie, Becky, Lorraine, Joanne, Jonti, Bill, Marcos. Kudos x

My Journey. Beating Cancer & 20stone to a 3100 mile non stop race [Part 1]

My story with Cancer began several years ago, it was always something you heard about, something that happened to elderly or sick people I was to learn something about myself and fast. My 1st experience was with testicular cancer. I was in so much pain that I had to visit the doctor.

My Food

My Food

My Food: Your questions to me answered. The way I started to cook. As the numbers in my social media grow, I get a lot of messages about what I eat, More importantly what I did eat at the start of my journey which is probably more help than what I eat now, as I tend to stuff my little fat face before I do any challenge.
